My first week.

I arrived with no more than my family and a small suitcase with a few clothes and some ever important new bras bought from Leaves in a market town in Northumberland. I put my marksies jimjams on and fell into the fresh crisp white cotton sheets, these became an indulgent daily luxury affforded me by my Fillipino maid Nur, she became my only friend in that first lonely week. Bruce went off to work at 6am the next morning and me and my 2 boys, Max and Miles headed off in a taxi to register and pay fees at their new school. 23'000$ seemed rather expensive and not even for a years fees, this was only for 6 months.
Tuesday morning I booked a comfort city cab and headed off with the lads for their 1st day of school. I headed off in the humidity of the morning, and marched down Orchard Rd, I felt conspicuous with my milk bottle legs, sweating like a fat lass in a chippy. I needn't have worried about my milky white skin, weeks later I was complimented by a beautician commenting on my 'beautiful pale white skin colour'. And later in the body shop being given a free sample of skin whitening cream became the norm on my daily visits to the abundance of shops here. I ventured into McCafe and ordered myself my 1st cappo, and settled down with eyes on stalks, overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of everyone coming for breakfast before work. I felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb, but I needen't have worried the Singaporeans turned out to be the most friendly of people and most welcoming. My 1st taxi ride in this 1st week, put my mind at ease, the elderly but sprightly driver asked me how I liked Singers, I liked it very much I told him, but I didn't know anyone, and had no friends. No worries lah, the last thing you need to be worried about in Singapore is not having any friends !!! I hoped he was right, and how right he turned out to be !!!!
